the good sense to seek some expert opinions from his colleagues in
Wales and to share them with us.
Yes - I agree.
My worry was more about pragmatics - would those participating have
expressed their opinions differently if they had been in direct dialogue?
Misrepresentation (please understand, that's _not_ what I am saying
Matthew did) can be about more than misquoting.
I certainly found Chris Meredith's
post very interesting and informative, just as I did David Kennedy's
thoughtful review, in which he teased out an ambivalence of sorts
among Welsh poets toward their culture.
I have been interested in this thread too. For a number of years I was a
member of a group of Welsh and English women poets who all lived in border
territory and chose to work together in English. - We turned to Gillian
Clarke and Medbh McGuckian at that time - if that information has any
bearing??
