I'm interested in it, Erminia, but find it hard to be sure what's Brecht and
what's not (in it) on the basis of its rendering here ("went o the window,"
e.g., or "I my cherry tree" or "into is pockets"). Can you give us an
accurate version in German and/or English? Thanks--Candice

> The Cherry Thief
>
> Early one morning, long before cockcrow
> I was awakened by whistling and went o the window,
> I my cherry tree – grey dawn filled the garden –
> Sat a young man with patched up trousers
> Cheerfully picking my cherries. Seeing me
> He nodded, and with both hands
> Pulled the cherries from the branches into is pockets.
> For quite a while as I lay once more in bed
> I hear him whistling his gay little song.
