But of course, & the privilege they (& we to a great extent) have, appears
to depend on keeping things as they are. There's a sense that for all who
desperately need a bit more to get it necessarily means that 'they' must
lose something, & that is intolerable to them, not to mention frightening
in the extreme. Therefore, anything done to 'protect' their 'property,' all
that they 'own,' is Right & Proper, morally 'good.' This is also the
thinking the rulers in centres of realpolitikal power are now operating
under.
