I would be willing to wager that the UN event has found an expedition on its
way up Everest already rather than funding an expedition outright. Being
adventurous spirits anyway I think it would be simple to find an
accommodating climber.
To offer counterpoint to your thoughts, though, why not read a poem from
"the top of the world"? It is part of the world after all and not the only
venue for this event but one of many. I'd suggest keeping the poetry short
(like one's breath at that altitude). Something like Michael Hannon's two
line poem:
PERFECT
Amok, the human spark
navigates immensity.
