Hi
Dont celebrate bonfire night anymore, but all this week have
been plagued with a childhood rhyme we used to sing when
door knocking with our 'guy' to collect for the bonfire, as
kids.
Thought I'd share it with you all and ask the pommies if
they know any more?
(from memory)
We come a cob-coaling
for bonfire time
your coal and your money
we hope you'll provide
falla dee
falla di
falla diddle dum dum di
up a ladder
down a wall
please give us
a cob of coal
a bit of slack
to put it back
and that will make
the fire go
Down in yon cellar
there's nothing but bugs
they've etten me stockings
and half of me clogs
falla dee
falla di
falla diddle dum dum di
guy guy guy
stick him in the eye
shove him up a lamppost
and never let him die
