It is interesting to note how linguistically some monetary concern in the
attribution of value to art and people is increasing on this list. The
word “penny” and “pence” popping out here and there, being at the base of
the most diffuse critical attempts at disvaluing dialoguing (on whatever
base it is set)..(Like saying : questioni da quattro soldi)
I would like to add some other terms to penny and pence: spiccioli, coins,
monete, currency, money, notes, soldi, danaro, bank notes, l’argent,
dinero, pecunia, dinheiro, Geld.
I also would like to underline the fact (and this is maybe my own
perception) how one can no longer distinguish who is Robin and who is
Martin, who is David and who is Jill, who is George and who is Roger and
who is Frederick and who is me and who is you and who is Candice and who is
Alison and who is Liz and who is Penny, and who is who.
Harmony enacted? Identities annihilated? Individual voices liquefied and
melted? Cohesion and symbiosis achieved? The list structure reinforced, the
ideal unity accomplished?
