Just to say that this morning I have had time to sit down
and read them properly. I liked them. Principally for the
language, which is distinctive but very natural. Being me
my favourite was 'Working Theology', but I too appreciated
'Ghost Machine Self-assembly Kit'. A fine collection of work.
And the LRB just came through the door and Marjory Perloff
has cancelled her subscription in fury at Mary Beard's casual
observation that one view in the UK is that the Americans got
what they deserved. But the Mary is a classicist, working-class
by her accent.
