I suppose Sellars thought he needed to show he 'knew' something about
Australia. He has a kind of 'off the wall' personal style from what I can
judge and his festival ideas have aroused a lot of controversy here. I must
say, though, I am looking forward to it. One thing he has done is to focus
mainly on Australian artists rather than importing overseas 'stars'.
(There's two sides to that, of course. It isn't just 'cultural cringe' but
an opportunity to see stuff we don't see often because we are so far away
and for the o/s bods to mix and mingle with us.)
He didn't say anything, by the way, about the lit component of the festival
and I'm not sure of the final line-up of writers - again some toing and
froing which we had a minor bit of input into - but there were certainly
going to be some Indigenous writers. Will ask at work tomorrow.

I don't think so. Most Fosters ads are obnoxious. Were there some especially
hideous ones made for o/s TV?
Now, I'll just go off to feed the roos in the top paddock and put another
prawn (sorry, shrimp) on the barbie. See yez round like a rissole, sport.
Best,
Jill
