It's hard to know how to answer Adorno. ED Blodgett puts it this way in
his essay, "Dickinson's Dash": if Adorno does not "mean that we must return
to silence," then the question must be asked: "does it mean something more
difficult to bear?" (28).
Which is to say that if one does write poetry, as Adorno knew would happen,
what does that act mean in the world at large. After all, Adorno, I
believe, must have admired Celan...
and etc...
