The wet edge of a softened day
recoiled at crow call.
An amputated dog at play
on spring green earth.
Cacophony of murmuring,
presentient of parting.
The yellow heat of wattle in
unseasoned settlement.
The still born lamb removed at birth.
A coffee scented warmth.
So sudden, all this life.
Its cyclical meandering
Skied, wing edged,
yet,
still ending
in one long and indrawn breath.
