Yeah, Frank
what Jimmy Knapp did was mobilise the then British Rail personnel into a
series of one-day strikes, rather than making the tactical error of an
all-outer, as Scargill and the NUM did.
As a result he won the issue, and subsequently British Rail was privatised
into a host of shoddy little companies, which made no economic sense
whatsoever but was done to break the union. This move was not only supported
by the Tories but also by, God Damn them, New Labour, may their souls if
they have any rot in Dante's inferno, we even have a former leader of the
Seamen's Union, John Prescott by name, actively pressing for a partial
privatisation of the Tube, with the same intentions in mind, break the
independence of the staff, mind you, he was only a steward, as in catering,
what else can you expect from such oleaginous creeps?
Best
Dave
