Of course there's a recording of _Owen W._ , Candice, but there are so many
opera recordings, and I'd been somehow waiting & waiting for it on tv (its
proper medium) or video, as one will presumably never see it on stage.
No recording of the Owen? You mean _War Requiem_? Several. The composer's
own is a classic (Decca - but wait for the cheap reissue.). The live
recording by Giulini & the composer (BBC Legends - on 1 CD! Backchannel me
for a deal ~ I can copy this CD) is even more exciting, but has faulty sound
in spots & very recessed soloists as in the concert hall, slightly
diminishing the effect of Owen's words. I haven't heard Richard Hickox on
Chandos, but it's rated highly for its balance of superb choir and very good
soloists. OK?
