Hope you enjoyed the film, Emilia. But tell me, where does Jesus speak of
sacrifice? "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice." _Matthew_ , 12). I really
can't go through all the Gospels now, but perhaps you remember.
There's an awful lot about duties, e.g. the duty to love, in Kant's
_Metaphysik der Sitten_ and the _Kritik der praktischen Vernunft_ , of the
autonomy of the free will, etc, but where does he speak of sacrifice? I may
have missed it, please tell me.
René Girard is a Christian, and of all present-day thinkers he who warns
most urgently against the superstitious belief in sacrifice.
