I'm suddenly reminded of that line in Dickens (Bleak House?) -- He do the
police in different voices -- that Eliot picks up in the MS of _The Waste
Land_.
Maybe not voice, but voices, and perhaps not to be +too+ quickly dismissed,
since it links poetry to the immediate physical speaking presence.
