Could I request, Candice (and Alison and Randolph), that when you compose
the Ethics Statement, that you include a clear prohibiton on creating false
email accounts in the names of other subscribers. In this regard, you might
state that when a claim of aggrievedness of such nature is made by a list
member, that the moderators will immediately contact and query the "false"
email in question and unsubscribe that address if a satisfactory response
and identification is not received in short order. And further, could I
suggest that you include a statement of commitment that Poetryetc list
moderators shall be always committed to consulting back channel, seriously
and in good faith, with any person claiming to be aggrieved by such libelous
acts. And further, could I request that a proviso be entered to the effect
that moderators shall refrain from making remarks to the list that defame
the character or motives of anyone involved in such a controversy, at least
until the matter has been clarified and settled.
thank you,
Kent
