Actually, Dana Gioia's follow-up to 'Can Poetry Matter', 'Notes to a New
Bohemia', lists rap as part of the resurgence of poetry.
Frankly, I'm beside myself with curiosity as to what it was within hiphop
lyricism that changed Gioia's mind between 1991 and 1994. Gza's a
candidate. So are Biggie and Prodigy. : )
