Candice and Alison,
A "mugging" is not at all what I had in mind-- not what I meant by
"gloves-off". Honest, naked Greco-Roman wrestling (co-ed), rather, which
would include, I'd imagine, some fairly sophisticated discussion of things
classically metrical, a topic I know a number of people here are
well-equipped to engage. Actually, in writng Lind, which I will do today or
tomorrow, I will be clear with him that a majority of people on Poetryetc
would likely be challenging him with considerable force; therefore, I'll
suggest that he should feel free to contact any other poets in the Rebel
Angels camp who might be interested in discussing matters around his article
as well. (Perhaps Michael Snider could help with this too, since he's been
in touch with some of the prominent folks?)
I think it could be very valuable to do this if Lind agrees-- even, perhaps,
turn out to be something worth publishing in selected form. Brazenly jumping
the gun, I hereby volunteer to act as editor in that regard (in editorial
consultation with the Poetryetc moderators, if they
wish).
The camps yell at each other across the waters from the islands of journals;
let's see what happens when they really get into a writing room together.
