I'm not (either adverse or averse), and I suppose there are others who
aren't because the woods look emptier every autumn. Actually I believe a lot
of them get picked by restaurateurs, and freelancers who sell to the posh
restaurants. A friend of mine acts as Russian Consul in Southampton, and was
once invited to the Russian Embassy, where he was shown detailed maps of the
whole of Britain, marking the best fungi-hunting areas. What chance have the
rest of us got against the KGB?
