Well, Dave, for you maybe. I enjoyed it coz it was such a surprise - and
surprise in jokes is a vital element. Other jokes have that 'satisfaction
of the expected' moment, but this one caught me (happily) unawares - due to
my ignorance of Burns possibly. I liked it, and it left a great tone for
this list, a good hearted one, so I thank you for sending it.

Your saying how old the joke was whereas it is thoroguhly new to me puts me
in mind of a Scottish woman I had as a student a coupla years ago. We were
discussing cliches, and I asked them for examples. She came forth with some
of the most imaginative language I've heard in a classroom - and she said
they were cliches where she came from. Interesting point, that: regional
cliches. Could be the same with jokes. Will the Internet change that? The
Clinton jokes went around the world superfast through emails.
