Think of the people you know that read poetry, then
dedunct those that also write the stuff, include all
those that don't publish and don't read in groups. Is
this a very small number?
If the answer to this is vaguely affirmative, then
doesn't the business of readers and writers have to be
rethought?. So in the spirit of writing for readers
who would be writers I offer this Y poem:
* l*ve to dec*de
j*lt and l*lly fl*ps,
wh*le * outsh*ne
some f*x g*ld p*ps.
the *'s can be replaced with either 'i' and/or 'o'. I
fancied writing a satisfying potential structure for
the would be reader/writer to read/write. Most of the
hard work done rhyme and metre looked after and just
the polishing off to do. I haven't done the math but I
think even this short fella could keep folk amused for
a little while.
