Okay Sean
I'll take it back, with apologies,
but I was, as I thought was clear, talking about that ol' establishment,
which seems still to ignore a lot of good writers, who do, indeed, prove,
as you say, that there are 'several literatures written in English on this
side of the Atlantic,' as, for example, Tom Raworth, or the wonderful
minimalist, Thomas A Clark -- although I may be wrong, & perhaps they are
(now) celebrated in the mainstream poetry press. I admit, I don't keep up
with it there, having not enough time to keep up with that other oxymoron,
CanLit, let alone AusLit etc...
And thanks for the history of those who did speak out for Bunting; I knew
about them but didn't have the names. I agree about that, but wonder, as do
you about Eliot at Faber, why those who had the most power used it to
ignore such a great writer & great work...
Right, then, I spoke more form ignorance than I should have, but I do love
Bunting & have for years...

I am afraid. I said that. I said that
for you.
