Indeed...and so she did, making up her mind at last to follow her mother
advise to marry the more useful of all civil servants: say, an Accident
and Emergency trauma surgeon , the one who gathers people "bits and pieces"
after major car crashes or differet kind of life occurrenecs and tries to
stick them back together.
She herself became a social worker, full-time care assistant lifting heavy
bodies of paraplegic ex-rugby players and helping them to cope with their
daily urgencies and needs.

She felt she was carrying around in her arms an encombering lead-ball by
having sometimes to admit that she still wrote poems, in those lonely
evening when she was not on duty and her husband was.
