Candice Ward said,
>Here's something appropriate for you, Peter--my place on this management
>team. Feel free to take all "appropriate" measures you're apparently
>harboring so smugly and the rest haven't been able to think of. Kent's all
>yours as the list goes down the drain--that's how subversion works: with
>the
>help of people like you. Have fun--I'm outta here--Candice
And then Peter Howard said,
"I've been on this list since its inception, but recently it seems that
almost every time I post here, I'm either ridiculed or flamed. Maybe
this is my fault, or maybe it's the tenor of the list. Either way, it's
clear the list and I don't mix. I'm unsubscribing.
Goodbye."

There's no need for anyone to say goodbye to the List. And there is no
reason to say, Candice, that "Kent's all yours as the list goes down the
drain." As I have asked you back channel, but without response, what do you
think I have done? I'm only guilty of trying to deflect a volley of flaming
darts sent my way from someone who came on the list two days back with the
idea of conducting holy war against... (well, we're still wainting to find
out-- David has written me to say that he will write something "critical" to
the list this evening).
Candice, et.al., once and for all: I have not invented Mr. Hess. I hope that
when he writes his next post that he will have the self-respect to
acknowledge that he sent various posts to the list under a forged email
account bearing my name, and thus manipulatively steered the list's (or at
least a part of the list's) anger against me. He may wish to say later *why*
he thought this was an apropos symbolic statement to make, and we can then
talk about it. But please, stop stating (and you too, please, Robin, there's
no need for the name-calling) that I have come on to Poetryetc with the aim
of destroying it. That's ludicrous.
Let's see if David has the dignity to change his approach now and apologize
to both me and the list. And perhaps Carlo Pacelli could do the same,
acknowledging that he pathetically participated in an attack he well-knew
was impelled by destructive spirit.
