I have incredibly mixed feelings about Uncle Ronald, Martin. I like the
appendices to LOTR but his prose style gives me problems. I grew up in the
landscape he was reared in, the Birmingham version that is, I even
encountered first love at Sarehole Mill, one blonde summer day in the long
ago, while I am personally acquainted with that tree in Moseley Bog he loved
so much.
So, 'tis difficult for me.
