Erminia said that. I have to disagree. For me, poetry is often the
expression of the unconscious through the tiny porthole of language. When I
say 'often', I mean it is my preferred option, I endeAvour to work like
that. That is why my intelligence rating is only an influence on my poetry
- it is perhaps more about how I have shaped the deep-seated concepts of
poetry that I work with (through reading through a lifetime and absorbing
amd rejecting as my intelligence dictates) than how or why I write the
individual poem. This may be a rank Romantic stance, but it is my true
belief.
