Hi, Helen--Not to preempt Alison, but I wanted to clarify the STIMULUS
project as Chris Emery's, and since he'll continue to be our point man at
SALT I think the webpage he planned for Poetryetc projects will eventually
happen. He had to step down from the list-management team due to work/time
crunches and their impact on his family, so I wouldn't want to pressure him
about our projects at the moment. I do understand your sense of having
contributed to list projects only to hear no more about them, though, and
had talked with John about their status last year. One impression I got then
was that he saw many of them, especially those that would occur
spontaneously (as when Erminia got us all posting saint's lives and poems
based on them), as list projects that began and ended on-list. Other, more
formal initiatives like STIMULUS and the Featured Poet series may be
targeted or subsequently tapped for web or print publication, but with Chris
now having to shoulder even more of the SALT load in John's absence I think
we're going to have to be patient for awhile.
Thanks for speaking your piece now, and I hope other listees will also tell
us what's on their minds. It's too bad Chris didn't stick around for an
exchange like this, but that was his choice. I'm glad to be able to report
that our numbers have remained steady at 180-82 all summer, even with the
usual vacation comings and goings (and the recent disruptions
notwithstanding). I've also been hearing back-channel from people who feel
more comfortable with our archives now being private. How do others feel
about that?
