Seemed to me rather to be a regretful elegy for the god he finally has to
acknowledge isn't there - tho perhaps he's sneakily paving the way for
him to come back through the human momentariness of immanence or art's
impertinent illogic (Steiner's God is most certainly male, though he's
hiding it better these days).
Liked the quote from Beckett about God: "He doesn't exist, the bastard!"
