PROJECT 1: Converting one issue of as many literary
journals as possible into eBooks
eJournal Archive:
The purpose of the eJournal Archive:
There are several reasons why Rattapallax Press and
DialoguePoetry are developing an archive of literary
journals around the world. (1) Recently, the press
organized Dialogue Among Civilizations Through Poetry
with the United Nations and one of the primary goals
of the event is to continue the interaction and
dialogue between cultures using the medium of
literature. The ejournal archive will allow anyone in
the world to see and read exact visual representations
of publications from different cultures and literary
traditions. (2) Another goal is to archive, as many
literary journals as possible to ensure that the
unique voices expressed by each journal remain
available to the public if for some reason the
publication ceases to exist. (3) Lastly, we hope to
introduce ebook technology to as many editors,
publishers, writers and readers as possible. The
format we will archive each journal is Adobe PDF.
Who can participate?
Any literary journal in the world that has existed for
more than one year and has published two or more
issues.
Is there any cost to participate?
No. Just send us the converted issue by following the
directions and we will optimize the file and host it
on the http://www.dialoguepoetry.org website. All of
the conversion software provided by Adobe is FREE and
the process is very simple. All of the journals that
agree to participate must make their eBook versions
free to the public.
Does the work have to be in English or translated to
English?
The work can be in any language and does not have to
be translated in to English.
Do I need to get electronic rights from my
contributors?
Yes. This may require a simple agreement from the
contributors giving your publication the right to
print an eBook version of the issue. If it is too
difficult to obtain rights for back-issues of your
publications, you may want to change your submission
guidelines or acceptance letter to include first
electronic serial rights for future publications.
Then submit a future issue to the eBook archive. All
permissions and rights must be handled by each
journal. Rattapallax Press or its affiliates will not
be held responsible for work presented in the ejournal
archive.
Who owns the rights to the ebook version of my
journal?
It is your eBook and your press owns all rights to it.
Can I send my ebook version to other sites or
participate in other programs?
Yes.
If I no longer want my ebook on your site, can I have
it removed?
Yes. Just send us an email and we will remove it.
Can I replace the issue on the site with another
issue?
Yes. Just send us the new version and we will replace
it. But, we cannot replace every issue with the most
recent release. We strongly encourage making your
issues available on your website in addition to the
ejournal archive.
Can I have more than one issue in the ejournal
archive?
Only one issue of your publication can be stored at
this time because of the enormous cost of additional
disk space on the site.
What do I need to send?
(1) Information about your publication
Name of Publication:
Subject(s): (poetry, fiction, short stories,
non-fiction, critical essays, art…)
Publisher:
Mailing Address:
Website Address:
(2) jpg, tiff, or gif copy of your issue's cover. It
should be 72 dpi.
(3) An Adobe PDF file of your issue
