I was wondering whether anyone has had experience with a fracture of
the os peroneum.
I have recently seen a 53yr old male, who presented with pain overlying
the dorso-lateral cuboid. Tendintis type symptoms had been present for
approximately 2 months and a recent episode where the foot was everted and
dorsiflexed whilst gardening created a large amount of pain that then made
weight bearing very painful.
Plain x-rays revealed what appears to be a fractured os peroneum.
I was unsure whether the usual treatment for peroneal tendinits i.e ice,
NSAIDS and orthotic therapy with a forefoot valgus wedging would be the
most appropriate form of treatment.
any feedback greatly appreciated
