The National Sports Medicine Institute (NSMI) is a registered medical

(OSCA) run postgraduate education programmes in sport and exercise
medicine. We have places left on the following course:

'Diagnostic radiology - treat the person, not the scan'
SUNDAY 18TH MARCH 2001 - NEW HUNTS HOUSE,  KING'S COLLEGE, GUY'S CAMPUS,
LONDON

This one-day course will aim to provide Osteopaths and other NHS
approved healthcare professionals with information and guidance
regarding the radiological investigation of sports injuries, helping
them to better understand the timing, appropriate use and effective
referral of patients for various investigations, including X-ray,
diagnostic ultrasound and MRI scanning.

OUTCOMES:

        You will have a better understanding of the following:

        * Which type of radiological investigation is most useful
in investigating particular types of condition;
        * How various radiological/scanning techniques can help to
direct and inform our management of patients;
        * How incorrect interpretation of investigations can
result in inappropriate management of patients.

Lectures will be given by Dr Allan Irvine, Dr Otto Chan, Dr Phillip Bell
and Dr Simon Blease. The course tutor is Dr Charlotte Cowie.
