Emma
I think that you have to consider that the Society doesn't want to do
anything that it may fail at, and an advertising campaign is one of those
things, you will see our leadership so afraid to state their views to the
government about the HPC just in case they fail. I say that you only fail if
you don't try.
I have pretty much given up with the Society since the leadership decided to
let the government do what ever they like, and to renforce their approach
they sent out the most biased questionnaire I have ever seen. Trust me the
leadership will not persue anything like a media campaign because they would
be afraid of criticism for the old guard that think 200 quid is too much to
pay that they even end our links to 'The Foot' the best journal we recieved.
Quite frankly we need to put our money where our mouths are and push for
higher subs and a better service we cannot run a decently professional body
without money. And as John stated our trade union activieties are a farce we
need to consider creating effectively 2 bodies one that is Trade Union and
One that is a Professional Body, it is mad to consider that as a trade union
we can attack our own members for poor employment practise and at the same
time defend them. A major rethink is in order but the current leadership is
all too obviously not up to the job, role on November and nominations for
elections to the council, I suggest everyone here make a point of looking in
the November journal and nominating themselves for posts they feel they can
do. I certainly will be doing so.
Regards
Akbal
