I think that the dichotomy between 'did Socrates or Plato say this' is a non
sequiteur. Plato claimed to be reporting the principles propounded by
Socrates. Of course, Cameron is right that both parties must be
enthusiastic and motivated. The example of Socrates' teaching system is
well propounded in 'The Symposium'. The translation of the title is 'The
Drinking Party' and I have never noticed this aspect of learning to be
absent from - at least- post graduate podiatric learning!
