Maire and all,

With respect, the majority of the mailbase fraternity know nothing of how my
time is divided between clinician, researcher and lecturer. I do not give up
what is a considerable amount of my time writing on this mailbase to insult
people. My singular goal in all of my roles is to improve patient care.
However, as both a clinician and scientist, I hold faith in the scientific
approach and believe that if we are to be taken seriously as a profession
then we must demonstrate scientific rigour. Mature, academic debate is
quintessential to this process.

Best wishes,
Simon
