Wil, Sarah, Ian, Steve L, Steve B (oh, master of turns in thread!)
Thanks for the wonderful postings.
I am hugely supportive of a discussion on post-modernism and OE because:
- we are united by a love of adventure (and post-modernism is an
adventure), therefore what an opportunity!
- postmodernism is a body of indepth thinking, emerging from philosophy and
literature, that has spread through and been applied to most disciplines,
and which can be used in understanding and developing outdoor education
I look around the table and so far see,
- someone who has spent 15 years immersed in and who is incredibly willing
to share and help us with an adventure in postmodernism (Steve B)
- people who are immersed in all sorts of other outdoor education stuff and
who have not heard much at postmodernism but who are fascinated and would
like to learn more (Sarah, Wil)
- people in between, e.g., I'm guessing you and I Steve L, who have read a
few things and had a few discussions about post-modernism, feel like we
understand some of basic concepts and some of the basic language, but don't
feel particularly 'competent' swimming around in and using postmodern language.
I just wanted to paint the picture I see from this keyboard. Like Steve I
will now wait and listen to what others have to say.
Cheers,
James
