Dear all
I apologise for re-covering old ground, but an article has been published in
the Medical Protection Society's journal "Casebook" entitled "Going
paperless" which deserves much wider distribution (MPS UK Casebook 16. Winter
2000/01). This is primarily intended for GP's who intend to computerise
their records, but, together with the list of references, contains essential
information for anyone thinking of keeping OH clinical records on their
computer.
For example, one point which is made concerns the need to build in an audit
trail. This may or may not be part of an off the shelf system (and needs to
be checked), but would be very difficult to include in any self-built system.
The latter would therefore have to exclude clinical records unless these are
also kept in written format..
I have checked with the MPS and they are quite happy for non-members to
access this article, and have added a copy of their e-mail below.

" The policy at MPS regarding dissemination of information beyond the
membership is that, as long as it doesn't represent a financial burden to
members, we should make information freely available to all
healthcareprofessionals.
We would therefore be happy to send copies of Casebook to non-members on
request. Members of your forum can order copies in writing - Louise Barley,

They can, of course, also download Casebook in pdf format from the website.
I would, of course, also appreciate any feedback they might care to give on
the article. The subject needs developing more fully so I'd be glad of any
pointers about aspects that should be addressed in future articles.
Thanks again for your interest.
