Apologies for cross-posting,
I have recently seen a case of Anosmia developing some 2 years into
employmemt in a Histopathology laboratory. She had stopped smoking soem 3
months prior to noticing the loss of smell. Her exposures are to dilute
formaldehyde, gluteraldehyde and standard stain systems, with some exposure
to acetone and paraffin wax.
I have searched Medline, and found only one reference to formaldehyde - a
German reference of 1969. The main causes seem to be in chemical
manufacture such as NH3, SO2, HCl and Cadmium.
Does anyone know any good sources of information on occupational causes of
loss of smell ?
