Hi everyone..........
I would like to know what the lists views are on Personnel sending
confidential information via e-mail to Occupational Health. I know we
discuss cases amongst ourselves via this discussion database, but we never
know the employees name. I am in charge of a relatively new Occupational
Health Unit for local government and have introduced major changes with
regard to the way they handle Pre employment screening forms for example.
They didn't have an Occupational Health Unit before Jan 99' so guess who use
to screen the forms prior to this?
I have developed a paper referral system which is working quite well, but we
are starting to receive the information vie the e-mail system. Not everyone
has this facility hence the need for the paper system. I would like all
personnel to follow the same procedure, but I am aware that it saves them
time if they send it via e-mail. I have concerns about this as through past
experience I have been on the receiving end of this technology going
terribly wrong and have received an e-mail that was not intended for me. Am
I being over cautious and old fashioned or do other OH professionals share
my concerns?
Would like to hear form you about this as I am going to debate this tomorrow
with Personnel from all the directorates.
Thank you in anticipation
