Apologies for the late reply to your appeal for information - I have only
just returned from Fiji and read the backlog of Email.
Attached is an extract from the bibliography of a report I prepared in 1996
that may be a useful start for your students. It covers all hazards but
you could extract the relevant cyclone documents. Many of the references
may not be available on the web. At that time I sighted them on paper and
have copies of some including the NZ cyclone track digests which are quite
voluminous.
In addition you could try contacting the Fiji Meteorological Service as
suggested by Steve Palmer. It maintains tracks of past cyclones in the
region and prepares reports on damaging events. Further information would
be available from the Meteo France Service de la Meteorologie en Nouvelle
Caledonie (www.meteo.nc) which has produced some excellent work on cyclone
tracks in that region that were on a database in Noumea in 1996. A useful
contact at that time was Michel Argent but he may have moved on.
Best wishes for the studies
