July 2001
Dear Colleague
NERC AIRBORNE REMOTE SENSING FOR FINANCIAL YEAR 2002/03
ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPPORTUNITY - PROPOSAL RETURN DATE: 1 OCTOBER 2001
The Natural Environment Research Council plans to continue its
centrally funded Airborne Remote Sensing campaigns in the United
Kingdom and Europe in Financial Year 2002/03.
Applications are invited for flying by the Airborne Remote Sensing
Facility (ARSF) during the 2002 season (Feb-Nov 2002).
Please note that the ARSF can support a wide range of marine shelf,
geophysical, terrestrial and freshwater research. This is possible
due to the operation of a dedicated Dornier 228 research aircraft
leased from the German Aerospace Research Centre (DLR). This large
and highly-capable aircraft is equipped with an Integrated Data System
coupled to an advanced multispectral instrument suite and an aerial
survey camera. Although not presently equipped with such, the Do228
can accommodate atmospheric instrumentation via cabin air inlets and
wing-mounted PMS pods.
If you wish to apply for use of the ARS Facility, a completed
application form must be returned to Ms Ursula Cockrem at the below
address as a paper original by 1 October 2001.
Full details of the ARSF Announcement of Opportunity, together with
an application form and guidance notes are available on the ARSF
