The Natural Resources Institute, previously part of the ODA prior to its privatisation in
1996 when it was purchased by the University of Greenwich, provides tailored training
courses in Food Aid Management.
These courses are typically of three to five days duration and are delivered in the
field. Over the past few years the NRI has delivered this training in Addis Ababa,
Asmara, Maputo, Mbabane, Kigoma, and Luanda. The most recent was last week in Skopje.
Participants are typically staff of the World Food Programme, NGOs and national
governments.
Occasional training has been conducted at NRI for NGO staff with specific food aid
responsibilities.
Content varies but normally focuses on procurement, quality assurance, warehouse
practices, trouble shooting.
