the 25th ACS Senior Technical Meeting (STM) is scheduled for Friday
November 2, and Saturday November 3, 2001. An important meeting for
scientists in Puerto Rico pursuing research in chemistry, chemical
engineering and chemical education, the STM provides a forum to exchange
ideas in all areas of chemistry, to assess new developments and to
discuss new research directions.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Contributions are requested in chemical education, experimental and
theoretical chemistry, and chemical engineering. There will be invited
talks (plenary lectures), contributed oral presentations, and posters.
The poster section will be on Friday evening. There will be a reception
at the poster section. The participation of undergraduate and graduate
students, and postdoctoral fellows, is encouraged. Advanced graduate
students and postdocs may request oral presentations. Contributions from

abstracts should include the name of the authors, the presenting
author(s) should be underlined, name of the research institution and
address. In a cover page please specify research area (e.g., organic,
chemical education, chemical engineering), principal author's Fax
number, telephone and E-mail address.
AWARD IN CHEMICAL EDUCATION
We have issued a call for nominations for the Award in Chemical
Education. The award ceremony will be during lunch in Friday 2, 2001.
Lunch on Friday will be at La Fiesta Lounge, which has a beautiful ocean

Industrial Process into the Trunk of Your Car: Hydrogen Production for
Automotive Fuel Cells"
Edwin Sibert III, Physical Chemistry, University of Wisconsin at
Madison, "Investigation of Vibrational Energy Flow in the Liquid Phase:
Theory and Experiment"
DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS
The deadline to submit contribution is October 19, 2001.
