PhD and Postdoctoral Positions to Study the Chemistry and Physics of
Molecular Doubly Charged Ions
at University College London.
Funding for a PhD studentship and also a Postdoctoral position is available
in the Chemistry Department at UCL to study the formation, reactivity and
decay of molecular dipositive ions (dications) using both experimental and
theoretical techniques. All the positions are available immediately. The
postdoctoral position is for 30 months. The PhD studentship will provide
funding for 3 years. The positions are part of a European Network in
Multiply Charged Ions, which is funded by the European Commission as part
of the Framework 5 programme. Eligibility is therefore restricted to
European nationals (and Eastern European citizens from qualifying
countries) who are not UK citizens. Other nodes of the network are in
Trento (Italy), Berlin (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic),
Innsbruck(Austria), Perugia (Italy) and Wein (Austria). Funding is
available for the successful applicant to spend some time at several of the
above locations in addition to UCL. The project will be supervised by Dr
Stephen D. Price and Dr Nikolas Kaltsoyannis.
Postdoctoral applicants should have a PhD in a relevant area of Chemistry
or Physics or a related subject. Applicants for PhD positions should hold,
or expect to hold, a degree in Chemistry or Physics or a related subject.
