Peter:
The U.S. Bureau of Mines Reports of Investigations were a major
contribution to the development of a number of technologies over the
years, since they frequently included the raw data with the reports.
There used to be an index of these on the web, but with the demise of
the Bureau the reference page that I had died. We do have a lot of
the reports at UMR and I suspect that most Mining universities in the
States also have them as a resource, but I don't think that they are
a Web resource any longer
