I suppose he is nothing to do with the later mining engineer D.C.Davies?
He came from Oswestry
I also have a vast amount of information (sent to me by a family
historian, sorry) about a Davies family from Oswestry one member of whom
came to London to work at Greenwich for Frank Hills (mining interests in
Spain and Wales - D.C.Davies wrote about some of his mines - but I have
never traced a connection). The daughters of the family used to go for
their holidays c.1880 to Llanfairmatharfarnithaf (??) on Anglesey.
This is probably a useless piece of information, and as I have often
thought the entire population of Oswestry was probably called Davies in
the 1800s.
