The Special Reports on the Mineral Resources of Great Britain, Volxx Lead and
Zinc. The Mining District of North Cardiganshire and West Montgomeryshire,
page 172, has a
'Fronfelen' mine "Position not known, probably on the plateau to the west of
Llanbrynmair. Lead ore was returned in 1848 and in 1874. The greatest output
was 15 tons in 1848."
Total output is stated as 21 tons of ore, which agrees with 6 tons in 1874.
So this could well be the same mine under a different spelling.
