There has been a spate of inappropriate postings to the mining-history list
of late, mainly linked to the foot and mouth crisis. I would remind members
that the list forms part of the JISC funded communications within UK higher
education. It is a communication channel with international dimensions and
is intended primarily as a forum for serious discussion of matters relating
to MINING-HISTORY.
It does not help if members reply to inappropriate postings in a similarly
inappropriate manner. Remember that any posting to the list is in the public
domain - see web archive at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/mining-history.html
In future please confine list posting to the remit outlined below -
A forum for the discussion of all aspects of the history of mining and
associated activity, including ore preparation, on-site smelting, transport
systems, social conditions.
Members are encouraged to make full use of the list to disseminate
information - conferences, field meets, newspaper cuttings, book reviews -
to post queries or to question accepted views on anything relating to
mining, be it coal, iron, non-ferrous metals, or stone.
