People may be interested to hear that I have recently confirmed the
presence of argentiferous tetrahedrite at this site. It carries 9-10 wt% Ag
and is visible to the naked eye: it is present in similar amounts to at
Darren and other nearby old Mid-Wales silver mines, where it was THE silver
carrier. A note describing the mineralisation at St Elvis is in
preparation: this discovery reinforces the notion that it was definately a
silver mine primarily.
