I have found, on a least a couple of occasions, that when wearing a
jacket and tie I have not been challenged by security at university
libraries. Tuck a document case under your arm, put a scowl on your face
and they say "Good morning, Sir", presumably thinking you are senior
staff. Of course, you have to have a certain maturity and you can only
browse but it can be useful.
