At our hospital Gosford NSW Australia, we have just been approved by our
Hospital Ethics committee to use aromatherapy in labour- the 7 oils choosen
were to enhance contractions, reduce fear and anxiety, uplifting, relieve nausea
and vomiting, and clear sinuses.
The oils can enhance contracts- clary sage, but also by relaxing and reducing
anxiety and fear can help with contracts- lavender, frankincense,

We use reflexology as a labour 'primer' especially for women overdue. We have
40 odd midwives trained in reflexology at our hospital, trained by Susanne Enzer
who is presently over in the UK teaching. We also have a policy for reflexology for
midwifery practice.
