General Invite to view a webcast of the joint event between the Royal
Society and Gresham College
Wednesday 4 April at 18.00 GMT
The legacy of Robert Hooke: science surveying and the city
Evidence of Hooke’s work as an employee of the Royal Society, Gresham
College and the City of London will be examined by Professor Michael Cooper
of City University to discover how important these diverse activities were
to Hooke, to the institutions that employed him, and to society today.
Aspects of his character will be revealed which do not accord with the
commonly held assessment of Hooke as a man of compromised integrity and
dubious propriety.
